About TabbyKat...
My real name is Hazel, 62 years young and married to John for 42 of those years. We live in a rural village in East Yorkshire and are proud to have two wonderful daughters both married who have given us 3 beautiful grand children.
I have been crafting in one form or another since I was 6 years old, this is when my Nanna taught me to knit. Knitting spread to Crochet then Dressmaking and Fashion design. Closely followed by embroidery and Bobbin Lace-making. It was a labour of love that took two and half years to complete but I made the Wedding Veil for our youngest daughter in Beaded Bucks Point.
Always looking for something new and challenging I took my embroidery and lace-making skills to a new level and started creating 1/12scale pieces for my Dolls House. It was whilst I was doing this that I first tried my hand at Card-making - Yes in 1/12 scale - small I agree but a great challenge. I even made a Wedding Scrapbook also.
I enjoyed this so much that I decided I would love to try Card-making for real, this was around 15 years ago but soon became bored with the designs and papers available - Hence my move over to the designing side, creating my own designs and papers. I was already and an avid photographer so loved to see what could be achieved using my photographs.
This lead me to look for speciality papers for printing my designs on to and I bought my first lot of 'Satin Decoupage' paper when it was launched on Ideal World around 6 years ago. I loved it so much that I decided to contact the supplier direct to see if I could get a quantity discount.
Only after I had placed and order for 3000 sheets did I arouse the interest of Nigel who telephoned me to find out what I was using so much of this paper for. I told him the story of how I liked to design my own decoupage sheets and he asked me to make some sample cards for him. This lead to doing my first TV show as his crafter just over 3 years ago and as you can say - The rest is History.
I now produce speciality designs in all formats for the Card Creations Plus range of CDs, producing the card samples and the photography for the CDs and have also recently launched a range of Clear and Rubber stamps which I hope you find compliments the designs on the CDs.
I hold a craft group on the first Saturday of each month and I am also a member of On-line craft groups.
I love to hear from others crafters and will be happy to give any help that I can. I am always available through our Forum.
